Reverend Dr. Eldridge Lucas, III is a resident of Prince George County, Virginia. He is the eldest son of the late Mr. Eldridge Lucas, Jr. and Mrs. Doris P. Lucas of Waverly, Virginia. He is a member of the graduating class of 1969 of the Central High School in Sussex, Virginia. Additionally, he is the recipient of a Bachelor of Theology Degree from the Trinity Bible College, a Master of Divinity Degree and the Doctor of Ministry Degree from the Virginia University of Lynchburg in Lynchburg, Virginia. Dr. Lucas has completed the requirements to receive a degree in Psychology from Ashworth University in Norcross, Georgia.
Dr. Lucas is a former member of the Supervisors of Sussex County, serving for a period of six years, serving two years of those as Vice-Chairman. He is also a former member of the Crater Disabilities Service Board of Southside Virginia.
Dr. Lucas is a member of the Interdenominational Ministers’ Conference, the Hampton Ministers’ Conference, and the Lebanon Virginia Baptist Association and Allied Bodies, of which he now holds the position of First Vice-Moderator. In addition, he is a former adjunct professor at the Suffolk Teaching site of the Virginia University of Lynchburg.
Dr. Lucas is the Pastor of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Smithfield, Virginia, having served now for a period of 17 years. He is married to Mrs. Hester N. Lucas of Waverly, Virginia and they are the parents of five children and grandparents of four. Rev. Lucas likes to be known simply as a man of God trying to do his Master’s will. His favorite motto is “Go in peace and let the Spirit of God be with you”.
